Parnu beach

Parnu is a popular resort with a long history, located on the shores of the Baltic sea. This is a well-known beach with numerous spas, clinics have been operating since 1898. Parnu is the largest resort in the Baltics, which is popular among locals and European tourists.

Beach description

Parnu is a long and wide beach surrounded by pine forest, parks and snow-white sandy dunes. This is the favourite place for vacation among locals and tourists from all over the world. It takes 15-25 minutes to get to the beach from the city center. Parnu is a crowded, popular beach which is called the summer capital of Estonia because it is packed with tourists from June to July.

During the touristic season, tens of thousands of tourists visit the beach. There is a large territory for having a rest and active games on the beach. The resort is located on the shores of a shallow bay, therefore the water warms up rapidly here which is favorably for the smallest tourists. The bottom and beach line are sandy, the entry in the sea is smooth. There are different parks around the perimeter of the resort. Trees defend the beach from cold air masses, that's why the atmosphere in Parnu is quiet, peaceful, and the weather is warm. There are no high waves there.

All conditions for comfortable vacation of young people, families with little children, adults, are met on the resort. The beach has enough place for those who like to sunbathe and spend their time actively. The first vacationers come here in June. The sea is clean, clear, cleaner.

The right part of the beach near which the mud clinic is located, is considered to be the "Female Beach", naturists prefer to spend their vacation there, access is limited.

When is it better to go

In Estonia, winters are mild and summers are cool. The climate in the state is moving from temperate to temperate continental. The average summer temperature is +20 degrees. April is warm, May is cool, the beach season lasts from June to August. Sometimes there is short rainfall. The rainy season begins in June and late summer. July – the warmest month of the year.

Infrastructure

You can get to the beach by city bus which daily running from the city center to the stop near the beach, by taxi, shuttle, train, rented car, or even bicycle. All touristic sights of Parnu are located within walking distance, Estonian beaches are perfect for active people who wish to go everywhere and learn everything.

Rides, swings, playgrounds are installed for children; rental points with swimming, surfing, winsurfing, kiteboarding equipment are open for adults. There is an area for minigolf, football and volleyball courts. Amateur competitions between vacationers are regularly held on equipped fields. For the comfort of guests, there are the following infrastructure objects on the beach:

  • changing stalls,
  • toilets,
  • shower stalls,
  • information boards,
  • security and rescues,
  • paid and free parkings,
  • equipped for people with disabilities.

Among additional services, guests can rent sunbeds and umbrellas.

On the beach, there are a lot of hotels, hostels, hotel complexes with rooms of different comfort level and high-level service. The hotels are located 300-500 meters from the beach. The prices for double room start at 40 euros. Parnu is popular for treatment vacation as there are a numerous sanatoriums, pensions and mud baths on the beach. In these places, guests can obtain the full range of services: procedures for the prevention and treatment of diseases of joints, musculoskeletal system, skin, cardiovascular system, nervous system.

There are paid spacious parkings fer personal guests' cars and working fountains near the beach. On the promenade, within walking distance from the beach, there are a lot of cafes, restaurants, snackbars, pizzerias, children's cafes, bars. On the beach line, you can find kiosks with ice cream, soft drinks, souvenir shops, shops, snackbars. Coffee houses, cafes with exclusively organic food are open for gourmets. Menus include national and European cuisine. Portions are big, the food is tasty, the service is at the highest level, in most food places the staff speaks Russian.

Not far from Parnu, there are numerous sights and places for active leisure:

  1. Aquapark. It would be faster to reach a touristic sight by car or taxi, or bus.
  2. Parnu Mud Clinic(Ranna puiestee 1, Pärnu) - the symbol of the resort.

  4. Tallinn Gates, Kuninga tn 1, Pärnu, Pärnu maakond 80011, that are a starting point of port road from Parnu to the capital of Estonia.
