Koukounaries beach
Kukunaries Beach (also known as Chrisi Ammos) is Skiathos Island's oldest beach. It is distinguished by a large length (approximately 1.5 km), an abundance of pines near the seashore and ideal infrastructure. People come here for the bright sun, warm and crystal clear water, beautiful landscapes. There id interesting fact: the arrangement and development of this place was supervised by the national tourism organization of Greece.

Beach description
Kukunaries has a crescent shape. Its surface is covered with sand of soft cream colour, mixed with pine needles. Occasionally, shells and small rocks are found on the ground. Good weather reigns here 300 days a year. Wind and large waves are rare - the local bay protects against them. Also, the beach has a smooth depth increase (it begins 10-15 meters from the coast) and a soft bottom.
In the outskirts of Cucunares, there is a pine grove, where you can rest from the summer heat and have a family picnic. A little further there is the lagoon of Strofilia - a heavenly spot, where black swans and other exotic birds live. Most of the beach is equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas, but there are areas for tourists, who prefer resting on a towel.
Kukunaries is the most popular beach of the island. Families, young people, couples in love, single tourists, water sports fans have a rest here. All these people enjoy the following activities:
- sunbathing on new sunbeds;
- Tasting dishes of greek cuisine at beach restaurants;
- communication and meetings with soft drinks;
- swimming, snorkelling, diving;
- water skiing, parachuting, boat trips;
- boat excursions on comfortable sunbeds.
And others. The beach is located in the southwestern part of Skiathos, on a small, but very beautiful peninsula. It is possible to get here by bus (last stop on the southern route). The distance between Cucunares and the island's capital is 15 km. Also, the beach can be reached by regular or water taxi, rented yachts. Finally, you can get to the beach by personal transport, following the following route:
- head west of city of Skiathos;
- get to the village of Catzaros and turn right;
- follow signs through Platanias and Trulos;
- reach the village of Cucunares.
After that you will have to go round a small bay, on the southern part of which there is a beach.
When is the best time to go?
Greece - a country with a long length from north to south, so the recommendations will vary depending on the place where you are going. The holiday season begins in May and reaches a peak in July-August: there are too many tourists, and the temperature on the southern islands reaches 40 degrees, which may still not play a role on the beach, but certainly not suitable for sightseeing. So the best time to relax in Greece is the end of spring-beginning of summer or September-October.

Infrastructure
In 400 meters from Cucunariès Beach is located a hotel Aelia Studios. It has the following amenities:
- relaxed atmosphere, because there are no animators, discos, noisy parties;
- silence, because the hotel is located on a small hill, away from the road Its residents do not hear the noise of cars, scooters and boats;

There are new toilets on the beach, showers, changing rooms and numerous lifeguard towers. Here you can go diving, rent a boat or a yacht, use the services of a water taxi or play tennis in the nearest hotel. Local coffee deserves special attention - it is in not worse than Italian drinks.
Visa Information
Greece is one of the countries of the Schengen agreement, so for a trip, Russians need to get a Schengen visa, best of all multiple. If you are a citizen of Ukraine and the owner of a biometric passport, then entry to Greece is possible without a visa.

Skiathos Town is a 20-minute drive from the beach. It is famous for its ancient port, Venetian fortress, concert venues and ancient architecture.
Castro Fortress is 20 km from Koukounaries. It was built on top of a cliff to defend itself against pirates and Turks. Earlier within its walls were several churches, dozens of residential buildings, shops and workshops.
