Bondi beach

Bondi is a large and very popular Sydney beach. It is located a few kilometers from the business center of the city. Bondi is listed as a national treasure of Australia. This is a favorite place for recreation and sports for both locals and tourists coming to Sydney from all over the world.

Beach description

Bondie is a large crescent-shaped bay located on the Pacific coast. The entire beach is covered with snow white sand monitored by the special service. Water is clean and transparent here as well but it is not heated rather well.

The ocean on Bondie is always rather cold, rough water and dangerous reverse current are rather frequent. In high season, sharks come to the beach. the northern part of the beach is safer (4 points out of 10 under the risk scale). The southern gets all 7 points, it is open only for surfers. Swimming areas are marked out with tags beyond which, the area is dangerous.

The majority of Bondi visitors engage in surfing, yoga, or jogging. They have evening beach parties here. This beach is more suitable for young people, it is crowded at any day of the year.

When is it better to go

The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.

Infrastructure

Bondi has excellent conditions for recreation and sports. It is equipped with:

  • shower stalls;
  • water closets;
  • changing cabins;
  • water fountains;
  • lockers.

There is paid parking nearby. Along the beach are numerous cafes, restaurants, hotels and souvenir shops.

In the center of the beach the Bondi Pavilion situated – a cultural center, which has:

  • a theater;
  • an art gallery;
  • art studios;
  • shops;
  • cafe.

The beach also has a surfing school and outdoor swimming pools (in the Bondi Iceberg complex).

Bondi is located in the suburbs of Sydney, in an area with dense buildings, so a few steps from the beach there are many hotels. The proximity of a large city allows any tourist to choose accommodation to taste and budget.

Bondi Beach is the venue for city holidays and festivals. From the beach, you can easily reach any of Sydney's attractions. Nearby interesting urban sites are Bondi Skate Park and Sam Fisherman Park.

How to get there

You can get to Bondi Beach from the city center by car (approximately 30 minutes) or by bus (routes 333, 380, 381 leave from the metro station "Bondi Junction", the journey takes about 10 minutes).
