Boston Bay beach

Boston Bay's open beach with its white sand and bright turquoise water is one of the most beautiful places on Jamaica's northern coast and perhaps the most attractive for windsurfers in the region. It is also known as the homeland of jerky, a popular dish of meat, fish or chicken marinated with Jamaican peppers and other local spices and then grilled. It is sold everywhere here.

Beach description

This beach is notable for its compact size and very clean sand. The horseshoe shape of a small bay and the rocky cliffs of Boston Bay Beach contribute to the formation of high waves in this place, so appreciated by surfers and windsurfers. For this reason, this publicity accessible beach with crystal blue water has been occupied by water sports enthusiasts of all ages coming from all over the world for over half a century. The perfect nature surrounding this place, as well as the detachment from the bustling and crowded resorts attract Boston Bay and Rastaman.

The special atmosphere of relaxation, noisy music and stormy water make this beach uncomfortable for couples with children. But all other categories of tourists, even those not engaged in any water sports, will find here for themselves entertainment to their taste, bathing, sunbathing, hiking along the sea, communicating with locals known for their friendliness, watching the luxurious sunsets and sunrises, surfing. Besides, any visitors to the beach can take board or kayak lessons for an extra fee.

Boston Bay Beach is located a few miles from Port Antonio and Long Bay. It can be reached by car, and it is important to watch carefully not to pass by, because a small bay is barely visible from the road. However, you can always check the location of the beach at jerk vendors selling it along the road.

When is the best time to go?

In Jamaica, the temperature is kept in the range of 20-30 degrees year-round. Rains take place in May-June and September-November. It is best to come from December to March: it is very warm at this time, and the rains will not bother you.

If you order a dish there in advance, it will not be cooked very spicy especially for you.

  • safe parking;
  • changing rooms;
  • shower stalls;
  • toilets;
  • a shop that offers rental and sells the equipment necessary for riding on the waves;
  • by setting up rescuer services and surf instructors cleaning up the area.

In addition to windsurfing and surfing, visitors to Boston Beach also have the opportunity to actively engage in kayaking and kitesurfing here. But diving and snorkeling enthusiasts in Boston Beach have nothing to do because the water here is too rough to dive.
