Where to relax in Tel Aviv. Charles Clore Park

In the southwest of Tel Aviv, there is a picturesque park right on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, it is located in the part of the embankment that borders on old Jaffa. Charles Clore Park owes its name to the name of the British financier and philanthropist who took a direct financial part in its creation. The park was founded with money from his charitable foundation in 1974. The park covers about 30 acres (12 hectares). Learn about best beaches in Israel. And the rating of beaches in Tel Aviv.

The territory of the park is decorated with sculptures. For example, there is “Harp, Sea and Light Breeze” installed here, which was created for this park by the famous sculptor I. Orbukh in 1989 at the expense of businessman M. Riklis (an Israeli who currently lives in New York).

After the death of Sir Charles Clore, the charitable foundation was taken over by his daughter Dame Vivienne Duffield.

In 2007, a grandiose reconstruction of the park began, which lasted for 2 years. The famous Israeli writer-poet, architect Hillel Omer worked on the development of the landscape design of the park. And the decision to create a design from rather small hills, a few palms, bushes (tamarisk), "wind and salt spray of the sea" turned out to be the best.

One of the main tasks of the architect is to make the sea visible from almost anywhere in the park.

The reconstruction process was complicated by the fact that in this place the soil on the coast along the sea, by and large, was not suitable for planting trees, it was possible to plant only grass and low shrubs.
