What attractions are worth visiting in Thailand - top 5
Thailand is not only the azure sea, hot sun and beaches. Palaces and temples, parks and museums of this exotic country attract tourists from all over the world. Everyone can find here entertainment to their taste.
The palace is a collection of buildings belonging to the royal family. This it includes the royal residence, several Buddhist temples, a library and a repository of the ashes of the previous representatives of the dynasty.
There is a special dress code on the territory of the palace: clothes must cover the heels, legs and shoulders. It is better to start sightseeing of the complex immediately after its opening, when it is still cool and there are no large crowds of tourists. An individual visit is much more convenient than a guided tour. Thanks to this, you can explore all the places of interest at your own pace, without being distracted by other people. At the entrance to the palace complex it is possible to rent an audio guide.
Wat Arun - Temple of the Dawn
Named after the Indian god of dawn, Aruna. It is located near the Chao Phraya River. The decoration of Wat Arun consists of fragments of multi-colored porcelain, previously used as ballast on Chinese ships.
A large number of statues are installed on the temple square - many Buddhas, guardian demons and many-headed elephants guarding the god Erawan. From the top of the pagoda, there is a wonderful view of the surroundings of Bangkok. You can climb there before dark and enjoy the panorama of the city. In the evening, when it gets dark, Wat Aruna is illuminated by spotlights. Then the pagoda appears in all its glory. It is better to admire the temple from the opposite bank of the river from 18:00 or 19:00 (just at this time it gets dark in Thailand). You can also find a restaurant overlooking the evening Wat Arun and dine there, enjoying the spectacle.
This open-air park is located a few kilometers from Bangkok and covers a huge area. Muang Boran or "Ancient City" is made in the form of the territory of Thailand. It contains more than 100 reduced copies of the famous architectural objects of the country.
All of them are located in the corresponding part of the park. There are also copies of buildings that no longer exist in Thailand and restored by restorers using original building fragments. A trip to the open-air museum will take most of the day, because the park is huge. But such an excursion will allow you to enjoy the majestic views of ancient buildings, examining them inside and out, and get to know the history of the country better. And all this at a more than democratic price of admission.
Khao Yai Park
Khao Yai is the oldest park in Thailand and one of the most protected places in the world. The flora and fauna of the park is represented by many species, most of them are on the verge of extinction. In addition to a huge number of different animals, in Khao Yai you can also look at waterfalls of various sizes.
The most famous of them are the eighty-meter Heu Narok, whose name translates as "Abyss of Hell" and Heu Suwat, from which Leonardo DiCaprio jumped on the set of the film "The Beach". The park has trails for tourists with a total length of 50 kilometers. Each of them has its own mileage and load, so you can choose a route that is ideal for the physical capabilities of each. You can also take part in a night safari, during which tourists ride in cars equipped with powerful spotlights. With the onset of darkness, nocturnal animals come out for food, which you will not be able to see at other times: porcupines, owls, deer. Occasionally you can see an elephant or a tiger.
These majestic ruins are located in the bend of the Chao Phraya River. The city is sacred to the people of Thailand. Its name translates as "Place consecrated by the gods."
There are several dozen temples that have survived to this day, many Buddha statues, as well as palaces and museums.
You can come to Ayutthaya with a guided tour or enjoy the majestic views alone. In the second case, it is better to rent a tuk-tuk or a bicycle, since the distances between the temples are very significant. You can also see the sights while sitting on an elephant. The main disadvantage of such a trip is that elephants ride tourists in a limited area due to the fact that they move slowly and get tired quickly.
Of course, it is impossible to visit all the sights of Thailand at once, as the country has a rich cultural heritage. But, if you already have the opportunity to visit the country of smiles, it is better to try to see as much as possible.
