7 Best Beaches in Santorini, Greece
Travelers who decide to spend their holidays on the Greek island of Santorini should prepare for absolutely incredible sights and views. The landscapes and coastline here are different from other places in Greece - guests can relax on the black or red sand beaches, which are surrounded by impressive cliffs. Santorini is also known as the island of love and romance.
The best beaches of Santorini:
1. Kamari
Kamari is a famous beach with black sand and a mountainous background, which is located near the airport. Guests can rent chairs on the beach and relax under a parasol. The sandy strip is not too wide, so it is better to come to Kamari early in order to have time to take a seat.
2. Perissa
Mountains also serve as a backdrop to this black sand beach. Near Perissa there is a hill on which stands the ancient city of Tyre. Tourists can climb the mountain via a zigzag rocky path. The beach itself is not too wide, has moderate waves and an associated village of the same name, where there are several shops and restaurants with live music, drinks and fun.
3. Perivolos
This beach can be called isolated, which has a positive effect on free space. Its distinguishing feature is its impressive coastline with deep blue waters and dark sand. Just three kilometers from Perivolos is the more popular beach of Perissa.
4. Red Beach
If you are up for an adventure or just want to see something unusual, then you can take a trip to Red Beach, which is one of the most iconic places on the island. Its cliffs of deep red and orange colors and black volcanic rocks create a breathtaking view. The beach has a small size, red sand (from which it got its name) and excellent conditions for swimming. Red Beach is located near the ancient village of Akrotiri, which is also worth a visit.
5. Monolithos
Unlike other volcanic type beaches, Monolithos has softer and more pleasant black sand and plenty of space. Some will call it boring, while others will appreciate the loneliness and natural beauty. The landscape here is more open, there are no rocks or mountains on the coast.
Monolithos is on the southeast coast of Santorini and offers calm and gently sloping waters.
6. Vlychada
The unique landscape of Vlychada Beach will make guests feel like they are in a lunar crater. The beauty here is natural and untainted by shops, restaurants or bars - the latter can be found in the nearest town. 7. Amoudi
BayIt's not really a beach, but it's a great place to stay with lots of shops and restaurants, a picturesque coastline, excellent swimming conditions and stunning sunsets. The city of Oia rises above the bay, which guests will see from an unusual angle.
