The best beaches close to Rome

In the eternal city, as Rome is also called, there is not only a huge historical cultural heritage. Every year Rome is developing more and more as a resort. Therefore, the beach infrastructure has been developed. Rome itself is not located on the shores of the Tyrrhenian Sea, but there are several resort areas near Rome that are considered the best in Italy.

Several beaches can be classified into a separate category, but there is one beach that is considered the oldest. The city beach is the coast. It was rested in the days of Ancient Rome. Currently, almost the entire beach is a private area. Several freshwater beaches are worthy of special mention, which are not located on the seashore, but on the shores of freshwater lakes. 

The most famous is Lake Martignano, on which there is a clean, quiet beach. This beach was created specifically to enjoy the silence.

On the seashore lies the beach resort of Anzio, which at one time was dotted with villas of Roman aristocrats. Currently, Anzio is one of the most expensive beaches. At the same time, there is not only ordinary recreation, but also entertainment centers.

The beach stands out for its small restaurants, as well as the fact that there are several museums that are visited by tourists from all over the world.

The Saboudia resort has several sandy beaches that are free of charge, in addition, the beach is never completely silted up. At the same time, there are several hotels near the beaches, both very luxurious and quite simple.

Sperlonga is a former fishing village, now a resort, where the beaches are located next to the steep cliffs. There are a lot of hotels and restaurants, next to which there are necessarily private beaches.

There is also a free recreation area. In addition to the beaches, the resort is famous for its attractions, this is the archaeological museum, an ancient villa, as well as a rather famous cave, which is called the Cave of Tiberius.

The beaches of Sanfilici are located next to Mount Circeo. The beach is located on a peninsula and is a combination of several small beaches. The main attraction of this beach resort is the coast, which is dotted with various grottoes, as well as small caves.

Another beach is located at the end of the Appian Way, next to which is the Temple of Jupiter.
