Blue Lagoon on Comino Island, Malta

Malta is an independent Mediterranean republic, which is located on several islands. The population of Malta calls their country a toy, because only three residential islands of a small area have accommodated so many people, history and the extraordinary beauty of nature.

The Maltese archipelago is located in the center of the Mediterranean Sea. These are three large and several small islands that are part of the country's territory. The biggest of them are Comino, Gozo and, of course, Malta. The latter is the largest island of the entire archipelago, and about 80% of the country's inhabitants are concentrated on it, as well as all major cities: Valletta – the capital of the republic, Zeitoun, Sliema and others.

The blue lagoon
on Comino Island is rightfully considered one of the best beaches in Malta. An insanely beautiful bay with clear water. By the way, the water here is the purest. The Blue Lagoon is located on a tiny uninhabited island located between the main islands of Malta and Gozo. There is only one hotel here, and the majority of vacationers come by speedboat every day to spend the whole day on the beach, enjoying the beautiful views.

But you won't find the beaches we are used to here. The whole island is covered with rocks, rocky soil all around, which is in the best traditions of Malta. There is practically no vegetation on the island of Comino or it is very scarce, the main local plant is considered Zira (or Cumin), from which the name of the island originates. There is no smooth sandy beach on the Blue Lagoon, you will have to sunbathe on a rock. It is advisable to bring sandals with you, as there are many ledges and stones on the rock.

The lagoon is one of the main attractions of Malta, so there are a lot of people there almost any day, you just need to put up with it and take it for granted. There is only 1 artificial sandy beach with sandy water, and it is insanely small, there is definitely not enough space for everyone there.

But people come there not only to swim and sunbathe, there is a huge amount of water entertainment, all tickets can be bought right on the spot, the prices are average. But the food prices are high, so I would recommend taking everything with you in advance. As for bathing, I can say that it is not convenient to swim everywhere. Rocky soil and large sharp stones spoil the impression of the island very much.

It's good that a small, but sandy beach is organized. Everyone who visits Malta is simply obliged to go to the Blue Lagoon!
