Sarakiniko beach
An ancient legend says that the name of the beach "owes" to the pirates of Sarakiniko, who during the storm were shipwrecked and asked for help from local residents. Posing as merchants, she enlisted the support of the indigenous population and were even invited to a local wedding. Their plans included stealing the bride and robbing the guests, but they were not destined to come true. Local residents managed to fight back the pirates and drove them out of the bay. Today, its coast is a quiet place with a measured passage of time and picturesque nature.

This beach is 19 km from Parga and is a quiet, secluded place for a relaxing vacation. It is located on the sandy and pebble coast, washed by the crystal clear water of Ionian Sea, which is bordered by ancient olive groves. Heavy greenery creats an incredible aroma on the beach, intertwined with the rich notes of sea breeze.
The entrance to the water is gentle and even. The bottom is well visible, even if you go far ahead, so "surprises" on this part of the sea will not present. You can relax even those who don't swim well. As the beach is located in the bay, the sea is mostly calm, without strong waves.
To get to Sarakiniko by car or scooter from Parga, you need to through Antussie and then to Agia. After the second turn to Agia, turn left and follow the signs on the roadside. The road to the beach is asphalted, but in some places is quite narrow, so it requires special concentration from the driver.
If you want to make a more extraordinary trip, take a water taxi to Sarakiniko from Parga. Price - 12 euro in both directions per person. Travel time takes 15 to 30 minutes. Departure from the Parga port at 11 a.m. and return in the afternoon at 5 p.m.
The beach is not as crowded as the ones closest to Parga, but still very popular during the tourist season. It's the place for those who don't like to rest all alone but also don't like noisy and big companies.
When is the best time to go?
