Golden beach
Located on the southeast coast of Paros next to the village of Drios. Its name is due to fine golden sand, particles of which sparkle in the sun and resemble the luster of a precious metal. This is one of the largest beaches on the island, its length is about 800 meters. Golden Beach is also famous for its ideal conditions for windsurfing and other sailing.

The channel between Paros and naksos islands is a sort of aerodynamic pipe where the unique wind of Meltemi is born. It blows for the entire year independently on the season, and is perfect for all sailing sports levels. It is calmer closer to the beach which is very comfortable for novices, and it can be rather strong on the bay edges. You can catch the highest waves in the 15-minte drive from the Golden Beach, in the near vicinity of Tsukalia town. And on the neighboring New Golden Beach, footbal matches for European Championship have been held for the last three years.
The beach is wide and long, and is covered with soft sand shining dazzlingly against the sunrays. The sea is clean, clear, of an amazing turquoise color. Water entry is smooth and comfortable, bottom is sandy, even, and safe.
The beach was granted the prestigious Blue Flag status, which indicates at the high service level and the clean environment. Paid deck chairs, umbrellas and tents are installed along the entire beach; there are water closets, washing rooms and changing cabins. The basic beach population is represented by young people and surfers, although families with children and adult couples visit it as well. The beach has several taverns and cafeterias, with the most popular, however, not a cheap, restaurant siatuted at the hotel Golden Beach. One of numerous sailing schools and sports equipment rent station are located here.
The largest and the most popular water sports center here is Sun Wind. It offers qualified lessons for athletes of all levels, rent of any equipment, including windsurfing boards and sap boards, kayaks, water ski, and hydrocycles. Novices can receive several free lessons, and athletes' safety is protected by experienced rescuers. All the instructors have the certificates of sailing coaches and beach rescuers, and there are many international level athletes among them.
When the sea is calm, without high waves, one can engage in snorkeling and observe underwater life. Shoals of multi-colored fish are used to gather in shallow waters, and they look striking against the background of golden sand.
When is the best time to go?

Sezona godišnjih odmora počinje u maju, a vrhunac dostiže u julu-avgustu: ima previše turista, a temperatura na južnim ostrvima dostiže 40 stepeni, što možda još uvijek ne igra ulogu na plaži, ali svakako nije pogodno za razgledavanje. Dakle, najbolje vrijeme za opuštanje u Grčkoj je kraj proljeća-početak ljeta ili septembar-oktobar.

Infrastructure
Although the beach is located far from Parikia and Naoussa, it is connected with these main resorts of the island by regular bus service. An asphalt road leads directly to the coast, so getting to the Golden Beach without any equipment is easy. There is plenty of housing in the vicinity, some hotels are located a few dozen of meters from the sea.
One of them – Golden Beach 3*, is a modern hotel complex with an excellent restaurant right on the beach. It offers a chic terrace with sun loungers and umbrellas, a cozy barbecue area, a children's and sports grounds, private parking and a gift shop. There is a sailing school on a site, a rental center for sports equipment and bicycles. All rooms have satellite TV and free high-speed internet access, and the bathrooms have the necessary hygiene facilities. The spacious balconies offer panoramic views of the bay and neighboring islands, you also can use the services of a nanny if necessary. Buffet breakfast is included in the room rate. Room service is also available.
