Cherai beach
Cherai – a beach with a length of about 10 km on the northern coast of the island of Vipin, Kerala. This is a crowded beach, which is especially popular with tourists from different regions of India, but Europeans are often found.

The long coastline with palm groves is covered with sand. There are rocky areas with large boulders scattered along the shore and in the water. The entrance to the sea is shallow, the bottom is sandy, in places sandy-rocky. Some sections of the beach are in the high-wave zone; there are relatively calm places where you can swim without risk. Constantly calm and warm water without waves in the inner backwater of Cherai, where it is especially comfortable to relax with young children. The beach is equipped with paid sunbeds and umbrellas, small cafes, snack bars and restaurants are often found, paid showers and toilets are equipped. Lifeguards are on duty.
Swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling on rocky areas are available on the beach. You can go fishing with sea fishermen or fish with a fishing rod from a rented boat or from the shore.
Near the beach of Cherai there are many temples and places worth visiting. Noteworthy is a masterpiece of modern Indian architecture – the Edappally temple complex, the Bhutthankettu dam with stunning waterfalls and the Fort Kochi forest reserve, built up with ancient colonial-style mansions, with the oldest Catholic Cathedral of St. Francis of the 16th century in India.
