Donkey beach
Donkey Beach is one of the main sights of western Bonaire. It got its unique name after the big amounts of donkeys that gather here. Its second name is Playa Palu di Mangel, or Almond Tree Beach. This second name highlights the other feature of this beach - it is surrounded by shadowy gardens of almond trees that are covered in white and pink flowers during Spring.

As Donkey Beach is situated very close to the airport, its visitors can enjoy another majestic sight. Airplanes flying right above their heads land just a few meters away from the beach.
Donkey Beach is not very wide but long. Sand is white there, and waves coming to the beach have the unique turquoise shade. There are three excellent snorkeling points but water entry can be complicated due to large stones.
Donkey Beach is not crowded during the business week but locals always gather here on weekends. Families meet for BBQ. As the result, a small town of tents grows here by evening. Donkey Beach often has food trucks with drinks, hamburgers and other food sold. There, you will hear typical Carribbean music which creates the spontaneous atmosphere.
