8 best beaches in Croatia
The beaches of Croatia can be called real natural wonders: the sea, the sky, the untouched coastline and the unchanging smooth pebbles together form a picturesque picture. Beaches near cities and resorts have all the necessary amenities, while the more remote ones will delight you with their originality. The list below shows a brief summary of the country's most suitable beaches for relaxation:
1. Kamenyak
The southern tip of the Istrian peninsula offers unspoiled Kamenjak Beach, around which you can explore secluded caves, coves and rocky cliffs. The colorful Kamenjak, although it is a wild place, is not completely devoid of amenities. For example, here you can refresh yourself in the Safari bar.
2. Palmizana
This resort, created by Professor Evgen Menegello, is located opposite the harbor of the city of Hvar and will delight not only with excellent beaches, but also with a botanical garden with exotic tropical plants. This place is a real paradise in Croatia.
3. Betina, Dubrovnik
Located between two city hotels, Betina is a cave with a superb white sand beach accessible by boat from Dubrovnik's old harbor. There are no services on site, so you need to take care of provisions and water.
4. Saplunara, Mljet
Most travelers visit Mljet for the sake of the reserve, which is located on the island. The rest of the island is a dense forest with little to no roads or inhabitants. However, the eastern tip of Mljet is interesting for the town of Saplunara with a significant number of beaches, among which Blace can be distinguished - a secluded place with almost no tourists.
5. Stiniva, Vis
Despite being voted one of the best European beaches in 2016, the beach remains relatively untouched. Surrounded by rocks and accessible only by one path or by boat, the beach has a beautiful sea with a greenish-blue tint to the water. Travelers should take care of water and provisions - there are no cafes nearby.
6. Brist
South of Split is the Makarska Riviera, one of the country's main tourist destinations. The Riviera has a number of resorts and beaches that are nice but crowded. A little further equidistant from Dubrovnik is the lesser-known town of Brist, a tiny, quiet place with affordable apartments and a beautiful beach overlooking the verdant Peljesac peninsula.
7. Sveti Jacob, Dubrovnik
While tourists in Dubrovnik choose the city beach of Banje, city residents go to the eastern beach of Sveti Yakov. The beach is reminiscent of Banje, but not as crowded. It has a small bar and restaurant. Transparent sea and an irresistible view of the Old Town of Dubrovnik will delight every guest.
8. Zlatni Rat
Zlatni Rat beach, also called Golden Cape or Golden Horn, is one of the most famous in Croatia. A magnet for tourists and a natural phenomenon is its triangular shape, which changes according to the whim of the tide, sea current and wind.
The place is located on the island of Brac near the resort town of Bol. In the afternoon, surfers come to the beach.
