Guincho beach

Guincho is one of the most famous Lisbon Riviera beaches, formed by the Guincho Oytavush dunes system. It is located not so far from Cape Roca, in the reserve Sintra-Cascais area. The long beach line is divided by rocks into several sections. From Cascais you can reach the beach by bus, rental car, bicycle or by foot.

Descripció de la platja

Guincho is covered with a thick layer of fine light sand, which is applied by winds from the sand dunes, coming close to the beach. A wooden deck with steps passes along the nearest dunes of Kresmina for a convenient passage to the shore.

Only few dare to swim on Guincho- there are too high waves and constantly windy. The beach is ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing. The beach is quite popular and crowded, especially when various competitions and even international surf championships have place. Active lifestyle lovers take children to Guincho to learn how to slide on the crest. There are many crevices, caves and grottoes in the cliffs, surrounding the shore by the dense wall. All this bounty can be seen and captured by photos and videos from pleasure boat or rented boat. Not far from Guincho there is the legendary Devil's Mouth-a picturesque through-hole in the rock, which, due to its location, emits chilling sounds in bad weather, that resemble the roar of an unknown monster. There is quiet and serene in sunny, windless weather.

At the foot of the cliff in the northern part of Guincho there is a small plot with a paid outdoor pool of ocean water. This is the only place where you can swim. Small children is better not to taken to the beach.

When is it better to go
