Parangtritis beach
Parangtritis Beach is a popular beach near the eponymous tourist village on the southern coast of Java, about 27 km from Jogjakarta. The picturesque coast is surrounded by interesting local traditions that give it a unique charm with a share of mysticism. Impressive sunsets only enhance this romantic and mystical atmosphere, attracting romantics and lovers here.

The special exotic appeal of Parangtrit Beach is primarily due to the fact that the inhabitants of Java themselves consider this place the gateway to the mystical kingdom of the Queen of the South (Ratu Kidul), who is the mistress of the sea. According to local beliefs, it is believed that she does not like strangers.
Tourists should not dress in green, gathering here, because this color is attractive to the queen, and waves can carry such people to her in the ocean. Therefore, this beach is revered as a sacred place. Although the prose of life is that the waves here are really very insidious. Their impressive roar and powerful overruns are a kind of business card of this Java beach, as well as the winds constantly blowing on it. Strong undercurrents also do not contribute to safe swimming here.
In addition, Parangtrit Beach attracts tourists:
- a very long (more than 2 km) coast with incredibly picturesque landscapes;
- stunning photogenicity and amazing contrasts – an emerald chain of coastal hills against the backdrop of ocean waters of all shades of blue and two-tone sand strip;
- wide sand strip of unusual color – at a considerable distance from the water, the sand is light gray, smoothly turning into darker and almost black near the ocean;
- high powerful waves reaching 2-3 m
In the light of the moon, this coast with silver-black sands acquires a truly mystical atmosphere, where you unwittingly believe in the traditions of the Indonesians. Sunset at sea is gentle, but when planning a vacation here, it is worth considering that with very powerful waves swimming on this beach is prohibited.
But you can admire the impressive power of the sea element and enjoy the many available leisure options on the coast. Most crowded here on weekends and holidays, although in general a very long shore always allows you to find a place for privacy.
When is it better to go?

Parangtritis impresses with its well-developed infrastructure. Vacationers can find maximum amenities here:

- the shore is controlled by the lifeguards;
- across the road from the beach there is parking, several cafes where you can eat, and even a mosque
The choice of extreme leisure activities here is very wide, ranging from the possibility of climbing and ending with the availability of paragliding and hang gliding. ATV rental is available for trips along the beach. The closest to the beach you can stay at LYNN Hotel By Horison, which is only 600 m from the coast, or in the villa Villa Alcheringa, from which it is only 10 minutes by car.
