Beach description
Teluk Ketapang Beach has no comfortable accommodation, but the water in the bay is crystal clear and amazingly transparent. In addition it has an amazing emerald hue. A large field lies right beyond the sand strip, covered with green grass and separating the beach from the main road. It is an ideal playground and a great place to watch wildlife and colorful sunsets over the Strait of Malacca. Ssually there are several boats of local fishermen on the shore, near the pier. Any of them will agree to become your guide for a nominal fee and take you to interesting places on the island.
Arriving at Teluk Ketapang in late May, you will witness a unique phenomenon. Every spring, dozens of turtles come here to lay their eggs. No wonder the locals called this place “Turtle Bay”. It is worth coming here for the sake of such a sensational sight and stunning photographs.
