Tai Long Wan beach

Tai Long Wan beach (Tai Long Wan) is a whole resort, conditionally divided by small hills into several sections, so you can relax here all day. In the morning, arrive at the extreme point of the bay, take a leisurely stroll through the cool water, go to the coastal thickets for lunch and eat delicious food at a local restaurant, and in the evening enjoy warm water in the far reaches of the beach and enjoy the sunset. This is how a perfect day at Tai Long Wan looks.

Beach description

A luxurious relaxation area near the east coast of Sai Kung. The beach can be reached by rented boats (if it is a peak season) or by land transport (taxi). In fact, the second variant of the trip from any point of the peninsula to the beach is more convenient and simple. It'll cost a little more to take the bus. Despite the snow-white surface of the beach and clean, water suitable for swimming, the beach is popular with surfers, because the waves here are quite high. Sometimes they are even too dangerous, for example, for beginners, and there are no lifeguards within the shore, so you need to go into the water very carefully.

The territory of the bay is not small (almost three kilometers) and here is also a place for those who want to enjoy the local beauties, to have a take a break from the stifling city. After all, picturesque waterfalls, snow-white sand and mountainous terrain near the beach really invite to rest and make you forget about the everyday life. But one cannot say that there are a lot of people on the beach, some people sunbathing, some of the tourists get to know the local sights, and some of the holidaymakers explore the trails to the waterfalls, so it is difficult to call Tai Long Wan Beach crowded. When is the best time to go?

The best time to travel to Hong Kong – is spring and autumn period. In summer, the rainy season begins, when heavy rains for three consecutive months do not spare the Kowloon Peninsula. In winter it’s pretty cool (the temperature drops to 15 degrees), but in autumn and spring the weather is most comfortable and dry.

Infrastructure

There are no standard and familiar for ordinary tourists amenities in the form of sunbeds or parasols on the beach. You can rent sports equipment or book a boat for the return trip at local restaurants, where in addition to sea delicacies they offer soft drinks and beer. However, those who want to relax in the quiet and remote areas of the beach will have to take care of their treats in advance, as restaurants are located only in one part of the beach, and there are no shops with food nearby.

Those who wish to organize a small tent camp near the beach can be annoyed by mosquitoes and crabs. But when choosing any of the accommodation services, this variant will be the most budget. There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity of the beach, but just in 10 km away from the beach you can stay in an elite and comfortable hotel Mandarin Oriental. Convenient location, modern design and first-class service are always ready for guests.

Useful information

If the way to the beach passes by water, then during such a mini trip you can see the local volcanoes of a funny hexagonal shape. Going on a hike around the island in search of waterfalls, it is better to stock up on comfortable shoes, because the trail contains small rocky areas and you can easily get hurt in open sandals. There is nobody to help on the beach, because the first-aid post is not provided here. In general, all tourists in the area of the beach are left to their own devices. Such a vacation is not too comfortable, but for connoisseurs of thrills, waves or a secluded relaxation - it is truly a paradise.

You can see the wildlife, a wonderful panorama of the entire bay and a beautiful view of the cliffs during the walking route to the beach, or during an excursion to the preserved nearby village. For children, there is no actual entertainment, you can build sand castles, swim and fly a kite but only in the summer, since in winter the waves are strong enough and couples are rare. You can visit Dragon's Back - this is a natural park where it is interesting not only for children but also for adults.
