The best beaches in East Asia

Jodogahama is a beach with white cliffs, pine forests and bright blue water. It is famous for clean air, impeccable cleanness, the warm and gentle sun. It is an ideal place for swimming, hiking and boat racing. This is a small beach hidden in a closed bay. It is famous for the white cliffs of volcanic rock, formed 52 million years ago. It is also decorated with green pine trees, the blue sea, lush shrubs, and an equipped promenade.

The giant Sangju Beach is located on the south coast of the Korean peninsula. The 2 km long and quite wide beach area is covered in silver sand, the water is very clean and the scenic thickets near the shore are a great destination for excursions. Pine forests and rice fields with nearby mountains protect the beach from strong winds.

Located in the north-eastern part of Taiwan in the vicinity of the picturesque village of Fulong. Belongs to Taipei County and is one of the best beaches on the island’s north coast. Convenient railway and bus connections are established between the capital of Taiwan and Fulong, which attracts many tourists and local residents to these places. In addition, sand sculpture competitions are regularly held on the beach, and in July a large-scale rock festival is held, which brings together not only the most famous Chinese musicians, but also their foreign colleagues.

We're actually not even certain that this place can be called a beach, as the sand surface only appears during low tides in Spring and Summer. Yurigahama is separated from the closest big beach (Ooganeku) by just 1,5 km of water surface. This place doesn't have distinctive borders as with each low tide it's formed in a new place, depending on weather and day. And that's exactly why this is the most well-known place on the whole Yoron Island.

Tottori Sand Dunes are located about twenty minutes from Tottori Station, Japan's central city. The adjacent beach is mainly called Tottori Sand Dunes, but you can also here the name Sakyu. In summer it is crowded with visitors, but a large area of the coastal zone allows all vacationers to accommodate comfortably. The bright blue Sea of Japan and the endless dunes of golden sands create a picturesque panoramic view of the sunset and high sandy hills. The shallow beach has not only crystal clear water, but also a pleasant temperature for swimming.

Picturesque Tianya Haijiao Beach is located on the western part of Sanya.

Located in northeast Taiwan and is a coastal part of the resort area of Wanli. From the north, the beach is reliably protected from strong winds and powerful currents by the bizarre cliffs of the Yeliu Geopark. The mouth of the river serves as the southern boundary of Green Bay; the main harbor and port of Vanley are also located there. The Emerald Bay is connected to neighboring cities by regular bus services, from Taipei it can be reached in just forty minutes.

Daecheon Beach is a bustling, youthful beach located in Chuncheon Province on the west coast of South Korea, just a 2-hour drive from Seoul. It is known as a place where every year – in July, for 2 weeks a mud festival is held – Boryeong Mud. But even at other times of the year, this beach is not empty. Millions of tourists and locals are attracted by clean sand, beautiful sunsets, panoramic views of the Yellow Sea and the pine forest, developed tourist infrastructure.

Geumneung Beach is one of the largest and most beautiful beaches on Jeju Island. It is washed by Geumneung Beach by the Pacific Ocean. Transparent waters and white sands in combination with small broken shells give the impression of a paradise. Gymnyn beach is a long and beautiful coastline with a bewitching view of the ebb and the island of Biando. Blue translucent water creates the illusion that you can even reach the island on foot.

Yonaha Maehama is a very picturesque beach located on the southwest edge of Miyako Island. Due to the contrast of blindingly white sand and emerald transparent water the local landscapes feel truly heavenly. With its length reaching 7 km and with a small amount of visitors (tourists rarely come here), this beach seems like a lost piece of Japan's heaven. You can only get here by taxi or rented car.

Yalong Bay is the most expensive and popular beach on the island of Hainan. Lucky visitors will see unique landscape gardens, white sandy shore of the bay of the same name with wonderful conditions for swimming and diving, excellent golf courses and yacht clubs, chic restaurants and hotels.

Located in the southwestern part of Okinawa and is the only beach within Naha city. It is located almost in the center, surrounded by residential areas, shops and restaurants. The cruise terminal is located just in a ten-minute stroll from the beach, and the distance to the international airport is 6 kilometers. It is very convenient for transit tourists arriving in Okinawa, who can rest on Naminoue after sightseeing and refresh on a hot day.

Sokcho isn't the biggest beach in Korea, but certainly a famous one. It's 450 m long and less than 100 m wide. The beach is located near a bus station on the east coast of the country. Thanks to a convenient traffic intersection and its natural location, the beach is easily accessible and therefore quite crowded during Summer. The soft sandy surface, hot springs, mountains and freshly caught seafood attract a large amount of tourists to Sokcho Beach every year.

Katsurahama is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kochi Prefecture, located a little south of the eponymous city in the south of Shikoku Island. Its main difference is the majestic bronze statue of Ryoma Sakamoto, one of the country's national heroes, towering on Ryutsu mull on the eastern outskirts. People come here not only for the sake of traditional beach activities, but for a relaxing holiday on the shore and exciting walks along the coast, surrounded by beautiful landscapes.

Zanpa Beach is located a little west of central Okinawa. It is visited not only by the Japanese, but also by international tourists. On the beach there is the opportunity to do any of the water sports. If you get bored with your beach holiday you can easily get to Zanpa Cape. On the territory of the park adjacent to the beach, it is pleasant to spend time making barbecue, walking, and doing sports.
