Kataonami beach
Kataonami Beach is one of the best Japanese beaches located in Wakayama Prefecture, Kansai District, just an hour and a half drive from Osaka. It is a wide and picturesque coastal zone, covered with well-groomed white sand and washed by the blue-green waters of the Pacific Ocean. The length of the beach is 1.2 km, the width is 100 m, the depth of the bay in the area of the beach is 1-5 m. Kataonami Beach offers its visitors a classic beach holiday, without the possibility of surfing or windsurfing, because the bay in the area of the beach is protected by a breakwater.

Kataonami Beach is very popular with tourists and locals. For their comfort, the beach area is equipped with changing cabins, showers, beach houses and toilets, playgrounds for children, rescue service, benches and lockers for storing things. Along the beach area there are parking lots, restaurants, souvenir shops and stores.
You can get to Kataonami Beach by bus, car or taxi. Tourists should visit such sights as Adventure World Safari Park, Tamatsushima Shrine, Wakaura Tenmangu, and Hofuku-ji Temple, and take a tour of Tengu Mountain and Sandankyo Gorge.
When is the best time to go?
If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees. Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
