Tomari beach
The beach is located on the island of Shikine-jima, there is a port near it, so it is easy to get here. The beach is far from the capital, the journey by car takes a little more than 3 hours, but you can also get here by comfortable ferry. Moreover, pure white sand, clear warm water and the wonderful atmosphere of this place really deserve attention, and there is something to do on the island itself, if you plan to stay here overnight. The water is shallow near the coast, so there are always many family couples on the beach, as well as vacationers who arrived on the island due to hot springs, but decided to swim and enjoy the local scenery. Although in general, the beach area can not be called crowded.

Despite the warm currents near the island, the high season is in the same time as in the whole country, July and August. Moreover, the beach is open daily and lifeguards are on duty quite early, already at 8:30 in the morning there is someone to provide first aid. When visiting the island, you must admire the famous seagulls with black tails and there is also the local Observatory, which takes care of these birds. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, the beach also offers snorkeling near a rocky area on the outskirts.
When is the best time to go?
If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees. Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
