Iritahama beach
Iritahama Beach is a real hidden gem with a relaxed atmosphere and beautiful landscape in Shimoda on the Pacific Ocean. The beach is located 3.5 km from the bus station, you can get there by car or taxi, as well as by bus. Perfect transparency of water on this beach is recognized as one of the best in Japan. Sparkling blue waters, snow-white sand and clean beach are the reasons why Iritahamu is often compared with the American island of Hawaii.

The high waves on Iritahama Beach create excellent conditions for surfing. Regardless of the season, the beach is relatively quiet and not crowded, it has become an ideal place to try your abilities to surf in the waves, without worrying about bumping in other surfers.
During the summer, lifeguards work on the beach. In addition, Iritahama has sufficient infrastructure for a comfortable stay this includes public toilets, showers and small restaurants along the coast.
When is the best time to go?
If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees. Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
