Aragusuku beach

Aragusuku is a picturesque beach on the eastern edge of Miyako Island that is worth visiting for those who like nature and calm solitary vacations. It's also a great place for family vacations on Miyako. It's usually less crowded here than on other beaches of the island with white sand and shallow crystal water of emerald color. It welcomes the most amount of visitors during Summer.

Beach description

Coral reefs with colorful fish along the spacious coastline make this place perfect for underwater swimming, and the smooth descent into water is ideal for swimming even for young children. Almost no high waves can be seen in this bay protected by reefs. But don't forget to wear slippers, as sometimes the sea bottom and the beach itself may have an occasional coral shard.

To truly appreciate the underwater beauty you can rent a kayak with a transparent bottom and ride them across the amazing surroundings of the beach. The best way to get here is by car from Shigira Hotel or Miyako Airport. Both options will take about half an hour.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
