Zaimokuza beach

Zaimokuza is a large family beach with beautiful landscapes, developed infrastructure and clean water. Here people enjoy sunbathing, walking with pets, tasting the delicacies of Japanese cuisine and catching a wave on a snowboard. Best time to visit this place is July, August.

Beach description

Zaimokuza is the cleanest, longest and most beautiful beach in Kamakura. People love it for soft sand, clear waters and developed infrastructure. It also has the following features:

  • smooth depth draft;
  • shallow water;
  • clean air;
  • calm sea (by Japanese standards).

The beach is cleaned 2 times a day. After typhoons and large waves, additional cleaning is carried out on its territory. Thanks to this, you can safely walk barefoot without fear of stepping on glass and other sharp objects.

Zaimokuza is ideal for surfing, windsurfing, swimming and sunbathing. After typhoons and large waves, additional cleaning is carried out on its territory. Also, people walk pets here and play frisbee with them.

The swimming season at Zaimokuza lasts from July to August. During this period, lifeguards are on duty at the beach, catering establishments work, vendors sell souvenirs. In the remaining months of the year, the local coast remains half empty (excluding weekends).

Due to the shallow, clean and calm waters, Zaimokuza is popular among families with children. Also, many young people, couples, water sports fans and tourists have a rest here. The main contingent of the beach is the Japanese from Kanagawa and Tokyo prefectures.

Zaimokuza is famous for its beautiful landscapes. From its shore you can see stone cliffs, dense forests, picturesque houses. And from the eastern part of the beach you can see the island of Enoshima, towering in the middle of the endless sea.

Interesting fact: Zaimokuza is described in Kokoro: novel by the great Japanese writer Soseki Natsume.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.

In 150 meters away from the sea shore a hotel situated «KKR Kamakura Wakamiya». It offers free parking, restaurant services, an outdoor pool and powerful Wi-Fi. Useful information

On weekends, Zaimokuza hosts nights of traditional Japanese fireworks. There is also a competition "Suika Nagashi": swimmers are offered to catch a watermelon, carried away by the waves to the sea.

Zaimokuza is one of the safest beaches. Policemen constantly patrol its territory.
