Zushi beach

This is perhaps the most conservative beach in Japan. Here you are not allowed to expose body parts with tattoos (they should be covered with t-shirts or towels), drink beverages or have a barbecue away from bar counters and other specially designated places. You can’t listen to loud music either. This applies not only to vacationers but even to entertainment facilities on the beach. In general, due to its proximity to Tokyo, Zushi Beach is a very popular, but despite being crowded, it gives the residents of the metropolis long-awaited peace and quiet.

Beach description

You can get easily and quickly to the beach from Tokyo by train. Two routes are possible, depending on which area of the capital you are in:

  • from Shinjuku station on the Shonan-Shinjuku line with the transition from Totsuka station to the Yokosuka line (about 1,000 yen);
  • from the Shibuya station on the Toyoko line to the Yokosuka line in Yokohama (about 600 yen).

From the Zushi train station to the shore you can get in 15 minutes of slow walk.

Zushi Beach is a crowded beach, but it is not a fancy one. It suits more for a family vacation than for a noisy party. Although, with all these water entertainments, nobody will be bored here. An excellent flat coast, as if created for hiking and water sports. Here, windsurfers and SAP surfers (those who row on the water, standing on a special board) like to relax.

Calm waters and low depths, a flat bottom, and shallow sand are perfect for families with small children. And on a clear day romantic people enjoy the panoramic views of Enoshima and Fujisan islands.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
