Beach description

The beach is visually divided in half by an artificial embankment that resembles the tail of a giant fish. It does not allow destructive waves to wash out the shore and serves as reliable protection against seasonal storms and powerful ocean currents. Thanks to that swimming in the lagoon is comfortable and safe it is ideal for young children. The sea is warm, shallow and transparent, and has amazing turquoise color. The bottom is flat, sandy and smooth. Swimming areas are fenced with buoys, swimming over them is prohibited. Rescuers are vigilantly watching the order, so violators can be fined.

Scuba diving is also not allowed, so fans of diving should choose another place, for example, Mibaru beach, located a little further south. The main entertainments at Azama Sun-Sun Beach are glass-bottom boat trips, water rides and paragliding.

The beach is equipped with showers, toilets, lounges and lockers for storing valuables. You can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, as well as accommodate under awnings in the picnic area. There are ramps for the physically challenged, a medical center and a pharmacy.

From the south, the beach borders the harbor, from where you can take a ferry or a sightseeing launch to the neighboring islands. The largest of them is the island of Kudaka, which is considered a sacred place among the Japanese.

There are cafes, restaurants, small shops and paid parking lot on the shore. There is a children's center, a mini zoo, a golf course and several sports fields in the park near the beach.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
