Tomori beach
Tomori Beach is the main feature of the Amami Oshima Island, both due to the fact that it's considered to be one of the most famous and beautiful beaches, and also due to its location. Tomori Beach is the closest beach to the airport that's located just 3 km to the north and 5-6 minutes away by bus or car. The combination of this white sandy beach and the iridescent blue water here is magnificent.

Beach description
The coast is quite large, with both rocky patches and coral reefs. You can find crabs during low tides, explore the rocks and walk the small channels that are formed, and during tides it's best to explore the underwater world with a mask or just swim. The beach area isn't always crowded, but tourists come here all year long thanks to the local climate. Especially since the beach is always among the leaders of tourist destinations on the island and is also included as a stop in the tour to Cape Ayamaru and the nearby lighthouse.
There's a lack of waves due to the reefs near the beach, so it's safe for children to swim here. Besides comfortable family vacations the beach also allows for mindless time spending and sunbathing among picturesque nature
When is the best time to go?
If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees. Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
