Onjuku beach

Onjuku Beach in the southern part of Chiba Prefecture is a popular family destination in Japan, known for surfing and fishing. Ondjuku is located in a small same name town on the Boso Peninsula near the Pacific Ocean coasts. The name of the beach in Japanese consists of two characters, which means a noble place of residence.

Beach description

Onjuku beach consists of fine white sand, combined with shining silver tints of the blue ocean, this creates a paradise in the rays of the hot sun. A beautiful crescent-shaped beach is comfortable for families with children, as it is very shallow and has a smooth slope. During tides, the depth and height of the waves increases, creating excellent conditions for surfing. Spectacular views from the beach are also impressive, with tall hills covered with green trees towering around Onjuku.

In the summertime, various events are held on the beach, including fireworks, beach volleyball, and soccer competitions. At such moments, Onjuku is crowded with people.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
