Tatadohama beach

The beach of the Izu Peninsula has the same name as the small town of Tatadohama in the famous resort of Shimoda. The coastline is surrounded by forest, and the mountains are visible in the northern part of it. Despite the sandy beach and excellent sunbathing opportunities, most vacationers stay on the beach for surfing. After all, the waves in the Tatadohama beach area are quite high, and for the safety of tourists, lifeguards are on their duty. Moreover, both beginners and experienced surfers come here.

Beach description

Clean and clear water, sea air, the rustle of coconut palm leaves and a relaxing cocktail will appeal to any tourist, so the people here are always diverse. The amenities on the beach include cafes, bars, showers and small huts for relaxation. You can get here by bus, but coming from the capital, first you have to go by train. There is where to stay for the night near the beach, so it is worth spending more than one day in this paradise, reminiscent of Hawaii. In addition, local attractions and healing hot springs, as well as picturesque city parks and a baseball court will help diversify your vacation.

When is the best time to go?

If in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido, the weather in January-February is quite wintery, in the southern islands the temperature rarely drops below 20 degrees even in the cold season. In summer, the rainy season comes in Japan, when the humidity becomes almost one hundred percent, and the thermometer is at 30 to 40 degrees.   Therefore, the best time to travel to Japan – is late spring or early autumn.
