Jungmun beach

The beach is located on the south coast of Jeju Island and is the most popular surfing spot on the island. In Russian, the name of this beach sounds like Chunmun, and the island on which it is located is Jeju. The Korean Federation for the Environmental Movement has recognized this coast as the best unpolluted beach among 44 beaches in South Korea.

Beach description

To get to the beach, you need to take bus number 600 and get off at the stop at the Hyatt Hotel. From the stop still have to go down. Due to its convenient location, developed transport interchange and ideal conditions for windsurfing, the beach is very crowded.

Its hallmark is a unique combination of shades of sand. Despite the fact that the beach is small (only 500 m long and 50 m wide), here you can see islands of black, white, red and gray sand. Such a non-standard sand composition picturesquely emphasizes the black stones of Hyunmuam of Jeju Island. All sand, regardless of color, is clean and fine.

To the right of the beach is a natural sea cave called Haesikgul, which is definitely worth a visit at low tide and make a couple of unusual photos here. The average water depth here is 1.2 meters. But even despite the sandy bottom, this is not the best “bathing” beach for children. Depth sharply begins on Chunmun, underwater currents are strong, and waves are high.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to travel to Korea comes in spring or fall. In the summer it is too hot in Korea, besides the air humidity reaches 80%, which cannot but intensify the negative effect of high temperature. But in spring and autumn the weather is warm, but still cool enough for a comfortable stay.

Infrastructure

Chunmun is a beach equipped for a comfortable beach holiday. Here you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas, change clothes in comfortable booths and find a free toilet and shower. Parking is available in front of the entrance.

A luxury hotel Hyatt Regency Jeju was built a few meters from it. Amazing sea views open from his rooms, and local entertainment is within walking distance from him, which is very convenient. Near the beach there are many shops, cafes, coffee houses and bakeries, fashionable restaurants.

There is a surf school on the beach where you can rent lessons and equipment for classes. Rescuers are on duty on the shore during the swimming season, but you should still be careful, as the current carries away from the shore quite quickly and over a long distance.
