Hyeopjae beach

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Hyeopjae Beach in Jeju, South Korea, a haven where nature's pristine splendor has been preserved. Nestled within Hanrim Park, this coastal gem is celebrated as one of the most scenic spots along the shore. Here, visitors are treated to a stunning tableau of powdery white sand, the deep cobalt hues of the ocean, and the lush greenery of evergreen forests. As you stroll along the beach, your gaze will be drawn to the picturesque Biyando Island, which lies just across the water - a sight not to be missed.

Beach description

Stretching over a length of 9 km, the coast boasts a particularly famous and most frequented section with pristine white sand that spans only 20 m. The average water depth here is a shallow 1.2 m, featuring a gentle, gradual entry without abrupt drops, making it a serene spot compared to the bustling Korean resorts.

Despite its beauty, the conditions at Hyeopjae Beach may not be ideal for families with children. Strong winds, powerful ocean currents, and high waves present potential hazards not just for youngsters but also for adept swimmers. Vigilance is paramount, even with lifeguards present along the shore. During low tide, however, children can be seen merrily playing in the expansive wet sand that the receding waters reveal for several hours.

To reach Hyeopjae Beach from Jeju Airport, one can board bus No. 100/200 or opt for a taxi, which costs approximately 2000 won. Alight at Jeju Intercity Bus Station and transfer to an intercity bus traveling west along Il-ju Road. Your stop will be Hanrim Park, located conveniently on this route. Buses are available every 20 minutes, ensuring a smooth journey to your beachside destination.
