Beach description
Eurwangni Beach is a crescent-shaped white sand beach with a gentle slope leading into the sea. The beach spans approximately 700 meters in length and does not exceed 200 meters in width. The depth of the sea in the coastal zone is around 1.5 meters, and to reach greater depths, one must venture beyond the buoys. With its expansive shallow waters, Eurwangni is ideal for families with children. The shore is sprinkled with sand, small shells, and pebbles. However, due to the muddy bottom, the sea near the beach boasts a murky blue color, and the water is somewhat cloudy. At low tide, the coastal area of the beach expands significantly, providing a perfect playground for children to frolic and construct sand castles.
On weekends, the beach becomes so crowded that securing a spot can be a challenge. Consequently, it often appears untidy, and parking can be a hassle for those arriving by car. The majority of the beachgoers are locals, with foreign tourists being a rare sight. This makes a visit to Eurwangni Beach an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in local culture and observe the nuances of Korean seaside life.
While resting here, you'll notice that many beachgoers prefer small tents to the traditional beach umbrellas and deck chairs. These tents provide a refuge from the sun and a place to safeguard belongings. It's common to see families and groups enjoying picnics and even grilling near their tents.
Access to Eurwangni Beach is convenient from Seoul or Bucheon, with options including bus, rental car, or taxi.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit South Korea for a beach vacation is during the summer months, particularly from late June to early September. This period offers the warmest weather and the most conducive conditions for enjoying the country's beautiful beaches.
- Late June to July: This is the beginning of the summer season. The weather is warm but not too hot, making it ideal for beach activities. However, it's also the start of the monsoon season, so you might experience some rainy days.
- August: Considered the peak of summer, August is the hottest month, perfect for sunbathing and water sports. Beaches are lively with tourists and locals alike, and there are numerous festivals and events.
- Early September: As the summer winds down, the temperatures become milder, and the crowds start to thin out. This is a great time for those looking for a more peaceful beach experience.
It's important to note that while the summer months are the most popular for beachgoers, they also coincide with South Korea's typhoon season. Therefore, it's advisable to check the weather forecasts and be prepared for sudden changes in conditions.
