Naksan beach
Naksan (낙산 해변) is a beach located in the northeast of the South Korean province of Gangwon-do, in the village of the same name, a short drive from Sokcho. This cozy and calm beach is an excellent choice for those who want to escape from the bustle of a noisy metropolis. It impresses with beautiful views of nature – light sand, blue sky and water, rocks, overgrown with green pine trees.

Beach description
Naksan beach is a beautiful beach about 4 km long, covered with white soft sand. Its coast is washed by a clear sea with clear but cold water. The sea entrance is gentle, the bottom is sandy. Naksan Beach is often used by lovers of active beach activities to ride the waves, surfing, kitesurfing or bodyboarding. The ebb and flow on the beach is hardly noticeable. A visit to Naksan beach is suitable for a group and family trip with children, a romantic trip for two.
In the northern part of the beach, parties are held in the evenings with fireworks and carnival performances, attractions and noisy entertainment, such as riding a Viking ship or pony discos riding in lighted carts and playing loud music. The southern part of the beach is more calm and secluded. People come here to watch and photograph how the dawn sun appears from the sea early in the morning.
You can get to Naksan beach by taking a bus from the nearest town – Yangyang. Buses run every 20-50 minutes.
When is the best time to go?
The best time to travel to Korea comes in spring or fall. In the summer it is too hot in Korea, besides the air humidity reaches 80%, which cannot but intensify the negative effect of high temperature. But in spring and autumn the weather is warm, but still cool enough for a comfortable stay.

Arriving at Naksan beach, you should visit the local attractions:
- the magnificent Naksansa Buddhist temple, located on a cliff overlooking the sea and the statue of Hesugwanemsang (goddess Gwanzey Bosal);
- Seoraksan National Park.

A feature of Korean beaches, including Naksan beach, is swimming according to the official schedule. Visitors do not enter the water after 6 pm and off-season days. Beach lifeguards strictly monitor compliance with the rules for visiting beaches. Koreans themselves take great care of their skin, so the locals on the beach do not undress to swimsuits, but take sun baths wearing t-shirts and long shorts, hiding under the shade of a beach umbrella. However, tourists are not at all forbidden to swim and sunbathe in a bikini.
