Sokcho beach

Sokcho isn't the biggest beach in Korea, but certainly a famous one. It's 450 m long and less than 100 m wide. The beach is located near a bus station on the east coast of the country. Thanks to a convenient traffic intersection and its natural location, the beach is easily accessible and therefore quite crowded during Summer. The soft sandy surface, hot springs, mountains and freshly caught seafood attract a large amount of tourists to Sokcho Beach every year.

Beach description

Changing rooms, football fields, volleyball courts and a rescue station are all located in the coastal area. The water attractions, camping sites and watching the sunrise during New Year are some of the most popular activities among locals. The beach is surrounded by such facilities and objects as the national park, golf courses, spa centers and scenic lakes.

The Buddhist temples and festivals deserve special attention. These are the historical and cultural sights of Sokcho, and the festivals will amaze the guests with their theatrical performances, parades and contests. Don't forget to visit grocery stores, the fish market and local restaurants, as tourists can try freshly caught seafood, raw fish snacks and stuffed squid. Anyone, from lonely travellers to touristic gourmets, will find an activity for themselves here.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to travel to Korea comes in spring or fall. In the summer it is too hot in Korea, besides the air humidity reaches 80%, which cannot but intensify the negative effect of high temperature. But in spring and autumn the weather is warm, but still cool enough for a comfortable stay.
