Beach description

Pink Beach is one of seven unique beaches with pink sand and is a real miracle of nature. The pink hue was acquired thanks to small pieces of red corals, crushed by the sea surf and mixed with grains of sand.

The beach is not big cozy bay, surrounded by low hills and rare trees. It is absolutely wild, so tourists should take care of hats, umbrellas, towels, sunscreen and a supply of drinking water. And. of course, it's important to take tube and mask, because the underwater world there amazes. The picturesque coral reef resembles an amazing underwater garden, which is home to a variety of marine fauna. Sea is so transparant and calm that it's possible to spend there many hours just looking at this breathtaking beauty, not worrying about high waves and the treacherous streams.

Photographers will appreciate this place for its marvelous mixture of pink sand and turquoise sea. And if they have an underwater camera, they can take unique pictures of exotic marine life on the background of picturesque coral thickets.

During the beach visit it's recommended to be careful and look around. Despite the fact that Komodo lizards live in northern part of island, they can be seen on the Pink Beach. Guides and local rangers monitor the safety, so tourists shouldn't neglect their recommendations and go away from the beach.

Guests can visit this island only with organized excursion which can take one or two days. The starting point is the small town of Labuan Bajo in West Flores, which can be reached by domestic flights. Buying two days tour tourists should note that there are no accomodation on the island and they will have to spend a night on the boat. But it's a great chance to visit all three islands (Komodo, Rinca and Padar) and to see ancient reptiles.

Only local residents and rangers permanently live here, who keep order and safety, provide tourists with food and drinks and monitor the environmental situation.
