Beach description

This place is famous for the story about an ungrateful son named Malin Kundang. Legend says that a man from a poor family Kundang snuck onto a merchant ship, met there a princess and soon married her. After some time, Malin Kundang moored a ship to the beach of Air Manis. His mother ran to the man, but he didn't recognize her, pretending that he did not know the woman. Offended, the woman cursed Malin and his ship, so they turned into rock. Since then, a natural sculpture has been placed on the shore of Air Manis, which resembles the figure of a man crying lying on the sand.

Air Manis is a shallow beach with calm water. At low tide, the ocean frees up so much land that people can walk to the small nearby island of Pisang Kechil. Air Manis is especially beautiful in the evening sun, hiding behind the horizon.

When is it better to go?

The air temperature throughout the year differs little and keeps within + 28-30 degrees. In the evening and at night, it is slightly cooler, but the thermometer rarely falls below +23 degrees. The water temperature is also stable. In order to avoid the rainy season (months from December to March), it is better to visit the country from May to August.
