Gelee Beach

Jelly Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Haiti. It is located in the Southern Department (the city of Le Quay).

Beach description

Long areas of white sand serve as a favorable background for the transparent azure waters of the Caribbean Sea. The charm and authenticity of Gelee Beach is enhanced by the many fish diners that offer a range of seafood delicacies. Grilled mollusks are a hit on the menu. The beach has become famous thanks to the annual music festival Fete Notre Dame, which is held in mid-August. During this time, a lot of musicians and dancers flock here.

After a day spent in the hot sun, tourists can taste dishes of traditional Haitian cuisine:

  • vinegar-pickled pork (served with rice, red beans or mushrooms),
  • poultry with bananas,
  • onion, corn and beetroot salad.

Bars are also suitable for snacks and relaxation, and there are plenty of bars in the Geele Beach area.

When is it better to go

To enjoy a vacation in Haiti, it is necessary to pay attention not only on the season, but also to the place of staying. Comfortable temperature is kept all year round, but the rainy season is very unpredictable. In the north, it rains more often from October to March, but the opposite is true in the south of the island.
