Kokrobite beach

Kokorobite is a beach town located 30 km west of Accra, the capital of Ghana. Untouched beaches, the sea, reggae music, beautiful tropical views and vibrant nightlife attract many rastafarians who want to spend several days away from the bustle of the city. Kokorobite often is chosen for parties and conferences, more over, locals like to get together on weekends on the beach to dance, hang out and eat. For lovers of African exotics and rastamans, this place guarantees one of the best options for a beach holiday in Ghana.

Beach description

Kokrobite Beach is a long beach on the Atlantic coastline, consisting of several areas, covered with white sand. The beach is surrounded by coconut trees, creating a pleasant shade and serving as a source of coconuts. A sloping entry into the ocean, warm water and soft surf make the beach even more pleasant.

Huts with roofs made of palm and coconut branches were built on the beach for the convenience of visitors. It is possible to take a break from the midday heat and keep on file personal items in storage. When resting at Kokrobite Beach, visitors can:

  • sunbathe;
  • bathe;
  • enjoy beautiful views of the ocean and sunset;
  • enjoy drinks at local bars;
  • play football;
  • hang out, listen to reggae music;
  • watch sea fishing;
  • have picnics with a bonfire;
  • take surfing lessons.

In addition, visitors of the beach can buy fresh seafood from local fishermen and cook it right on the beach.

The beach is not very clean - and this is, perhaps, the only minus of Kokrobite Beach.

It is possible to get to the beach by leaving Accra by taxi, rented car or by public transport.

When is the best time to go?

In Ghana, the year-round temperature is between + 24- + 32 degrees. You should remember, that in January-February, dry winds from the desert blow from the north, although their influence is almost imperceptible on the seashore. There are rainy periods in Ghana in spring and autumn, so the best time to visit is summer or winter.
