Torra Bay beach

Torra Bay is secluded beach, which is located near Skeleton Coast – national reserve of Namibia. There are quite strong waves on the coast and even in season the water is cool.

Beach description

There is no infrastructure on beach. Only the ocean in purest form. There used to be a hotel on Torra Bay, but now hotel is not functioning. During the season, you can stay in holiday centre, pitching a tent right on beach or in lodge. Lodge – small wooden cottages with thatched roofs, arranged right on the shore. There are spacious, comfortable rooms with full-length glass windows in lodge. All this creates a sense of unity with nature. Premium lodge has swimming pools, large terraces, you can sit comfortably on the roof. But lodge is also expensive, $ 200 per night per person.

From here you can go on a balloon trip over the red dunes or on a desert Safari, to get acquainted with African animals, take cool photos.

You can get to Torra Bay by car from the capital's airport.

When is it better to go

You can travel to Namibia year-round. The climate is dry due to the desert influence. In the summer months (December, January and February), air temperature can reach + 38˚. In winter, the air temperature rises on average to + 25˚, but during this period it is very humid.

If you want to visit nature reserves and the desert, you should come to Namibia in the winter. For a beach holiday, the best time is from November to April. But we must remember that the Atlantic is not too warm. Even at the peak of the beach season in February, the water temperature off the coast in the Atlantic Ocean does not rise above + 23˚.
