Beach description
West Bay is famous for its beautiful scenery and diverse underwater fauna. Tourists can admire the multicolored corals, numerous flocks of colourful carp fish, Atlantic blue surgeons and angelfish. You are allowed to enter into the water along the entire length of the beach, but it's recommended to do so at the westernmost point of West Bay (the mark is a black rock). A lot of divers prefer snorkeling in this particular place.
The sea is very calm here, there are almost no waves, the underwater visibility is excellent. The beach has a large number of fashionable hotels and restaurants. You can buy something to remember West Bay at one of the supermarkets located near the main road.
Holidaymakers get to the beach by water transport from the West End (the boat departs when at least 3 people are on board). When you arrive at the shore, you need to go to the west.
When is the best time to go?
Honduras has the warmest period in summer, especially in the lowlands of the Caribbean and the Pacific coast. The temperature range in the dry season is 28-32 °C. A slight cooling – for about 3 °C – is observed with the onset of the rainy season (May-November). The heat is suitable for diving, and the wet season is for admiring the lush green vegetation.
