Lovrečina Bay beach
Lovrečina Bay is a picturesque beach on the northern outskirts of the island of Brač, often called the “Blue Lagoon” of this corner of Croatia. It's situated in the forest area of the bay of the same name, about 4 km east of the resort village of Postira; it's a perfect place for lovers of romantic seclusion with a certain amount of comfort.

Beach description
Lovrečina Bay is the only beach on Brač Island with exceptionally sandy coast and fine light sand on the bottom of the sea. The sea in this bay has amazing turquoise and emerald hues due to the majestic pine trees surrounding the shore, in the shadow of which you can hide from the heat. The same coasal forest strip also protects the beach from strong winds.
In general, the conditions for swimming here can be divided into 2 sections:
- the first 100 m from the shore are shallow and the bottom is sandy, allowing to stay here even with children;
- as you go further from the coast, the depth increases faster, and the clear and very calm waters, like a magnet, attract divers and snorkelers here
A particularly picturesque view of the coast opens up from the highway. But there's no bus connection to this Croatian beach. The only way to get here is by car, so the coast is usually not crowded and you can enjoy the atmosphere of seclusion.
But in summer (especially on weekends) there can be a lot of tourists, as the beach is popular among locals and tourists, and they often organize boat trips here. That's why in the peak season (in August) it's best to come here later in the evening, which will allow you to admire a picturesque sunset and enjoy romance without noisy crowds. This is the reason why the beach in this bay is very popular with lovers.
When is the best time to go?
Although the summer in Croatia is hot (the temperature can rise up to 30 degrees), but thanks to the sea breezes it is very pleasant - the best time for a beach holiday. If you want to see the sights of this country rich in historical events, it is better to choose tours in spring or autumn: firstly, the weather is comfortable, and secondly, there are not so many tourists in these times of the year, which positively affects prices.

Infrastructure
Lovrečina Bay has a partially developed infrastructure:
- on the coast, you can find several beach stalls selling drinks and ice cream;
- there's a beach bar in the shade of the pine trees, where visitors can use deck chairs and hammocks all day;
- near the beach there's a fine restaurant serving traditional dishes of the Brač Island;
- there's a small parking lot next to the beach
You won't be able to find any accommodation in the vicinity of the beach. You can stay in a hotel in Postir or rent an apartment in Supetar. For example, one of the most attractive options – villa “Adriatic”, which is located in just 15 minute drive from the beach.

The area between Postira and Pučišća, where the beach of Lovrečina Bay is located, is famous as an area with numerous archaeological monuments. So here you can combine relaxation with excursions to them.
- In the Lovrečina Bay, among the olive groves, there are the ruins of the ancient Basilica of St Lawrence, dating back to the 5th-6th centuries. You can get here by car or by boat. This sacred place is most crowded on August 10, when on the day of remembrance of this saint many pilgrims come here.
- In the vicinity of the beach, you can also admire the partially preserved ruins of an ancient Roman summer villa and visit a donkey breeding farm on the way to the bay.
- In Postira or Pučišća you can rent a boat or a powerboat for a trip to the hidden wild beaches in the surrounding area, which are accessible only from sea.
You can get to the coast of Lovrečina Bay by car (but it's better not to drive down to the bay itself, but to leave it on the side of the highway), by bicycle or on foot – the winding forest trails from Postira, passing along the sea. In any case, you will be able to admire very picturesque views on the way.
