Bellevue beach
Located in Klampenborg, a small elite resort town on the northern coast of Denmark, Bellevue Beach was designed in 1932 by the renowned Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. He won a tender to create a municipally organized beach in a suburb of Copenhagen. Since its inception, Bellevue Beach has been a favored vacation spot for both residents of the capital and foreign guests, particularly from May to September. In 2019, it was awarded the EU Blue Flag for exemplary cleanliness and first-class service.

Beach description
Bellevue Beach is situated a mere ten kilometers north of Copenhagen and is accessible by train, regular bus, car, or bicycle. The Klampenborg train station is conveniently located just a five-minute walk from the beach, and there is ample parking available for those who prefer to drive. However, the most enchanting experience might be a leisurely bike ride along the coast, allowing you to fully absorb the stunning scenery.
The expansive coastline stretches approximately 700 meters and is adorned with fine, soft white sand. The sea, typical of Denmark's northern shores, is cool, shallow, and crystal clear. The sandy bottom is safe for all, with access to the water available from both the shore and artificial embankments that extend into the sea. Multi-tiered benches for loungers and special ladders for easy entry into the water are thoughtfully placed along the piers. The distinctive blue and white rescue towers, perched at the end of each embankment, serve as iconic landmarks of the beach.
The beach boasts amenities such as sunbeds, sunshades, showers, and changing tents. Boardwalks are installed to accommodate individuals with limited mobility and visitors with strollers, ensuring a welcoming environment for all.
Bellevue Beach is a favorite among families with young children, mature couples, and the active youth. There is something for everyone: children's play areas, sports facilities, water rides, and rental services for kayaks and catamarans. Visitors can enjoy a picnic on the lush lawns or in the nearby park, or indulge in the local cuisine at one of the beachside restaurants.
The beach is also a popular destination for nudists from across Europe. Denmark is known for its liberal attitude, and as such, beachgoers without bathing suits blend in seamlessly and feel quite at ease. While there are no designated zones for naturists with strict regulations, overt sexual behavior is discouraged and may result in fines.
Optimal Visiting Times
The best time to visit Denmark for a beach vacation is during the summer months, from June to August. This period offers the warmest weather and the longest days, perfect for enjoying the country's beautiful sandy shores and coastal activities.
- June: The start of the summer brings milder temperatures and fewer crowds. It's an ideal time for those looking to enjoy a more peaceful beach experience.
- July: Peak season arrives in July, with the warmest temperatures averaging around 20°C (68°F). This is when the beaches are most lively, and water sports are in full swing.
- August: The tail end of summer still offers pleasant weather, though the water can be warmer from the accumulated heat, making it perfect for swimming.
Regardless of the month you choose, Denmark's beaches, such as those on the West Coast or the popular island of Bornholm, provide a unique Nordic beach experience. Just remember that even in summer, the weather can be unpredictable, so it's wise to pack layers.

Klampenborg is famous not only for its famous beach, but also for its magnificent old parks in its vicinity. The most amazing and fabulous among them is Jægersborg Dyrehave ("Deer Park"), founded in the seventeenth century for royal hunting and now open to all comers. The area of the park is about 11 square kilometers; about two thousand fallow deer and deer live in natural conditions on its vast territory. Animals are practically not afraid of people, therefore, if you behave quietly and carefully, you can get close to them and take great photos. There are many hiking and bicycle paths on the territory, you can relax in cozy gazebos, sunbathe on grassy lawns, have a picnic, and take a horse ride.
Another favorite vacation spot for locals and foreign visitors is Bakken Amusement Park, the oldest in Denmark. In the distant 1583, a source of healing water was discovered here, around which over time a market square was organized with booths, clowns and circus performers. Over time, it transformed into an amusement park, which to this day has preserved the unique atmosphere of Europe of the 16th century. At the entrance, guests are greeted by a white Pierrot, a contact zoo is organized for children, you can visit the music hall and the circus revue. All attractions, cafes and restaurants are styled in antiquity, visitors are entertained by clowns, musicians and roaming artists.
