Bellevue beach

Located in Klampenborg - a small elite resort town on the northern coast of Denmark. Bellevue was designed in 1932 by the famous Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, who won the tender for creating a municipal organized beach in a suburb of Copenhagen. Since then, it has been a favorite vacation spot for residents of the capital and foreign guests, especially from May to September. In 2019, he was awarded the EU Blue Flag for exemplary cleanliness and first-class service.

Beach description

Bellevue is located just ten kilometers north of Copenhagen, you can get to it by train, regular bus, car or bicycle. The Klampenborg train station is a five-minute walk from the beach, and convenient, ample parking is provided for motorists. But still the most impressive will be a bike ride, during which you can slowly explore the coast and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

The coastline is wide and quite long (about 700 meters), covered with soft white sand. The sea is cool, which is characteristic of the northern coast of Denmark, shallow and crystal clear. The bottom is sandy and safe, you can enter the water both from the shore and from artificial embankments that stand out into the sea. At the piers, multi-tiered benches for vacationers and special ladders for comfortable descent are organized. At the end of each embankment towers the original blue and white rescue towers, which are the hallmark of the beach.

The beach is equipped with sunbeds, sunshades, showers and dressing tents. Boardwalks for disabled people with limited mobility and visitors with prams are laid around the perimeter.

Families with young children, mature couples and active youth like to relax in Bellevue. Any visitor can find something to their liking - on the beach are organized children's towns, sports grounds, there are water rides and a rental point for kayaks and catamarans. It is possible to organize a picnic on a grassy lawn or in a park near the beach, as well as have a good time in one of the coastal restaurants.

There are many nudists on Bellevue who come here from all over Europe. Denmark is generally distinguished by its free morals, so people without bathing suits do not cause increased interest in the rest of the public and feel quite comfortable. There are no special zones for naturists on the beach with clearly defined rules, the only thing that is not welcome and can lead to a fine is frank carnal joy in front of others.

When is it better to go?

Winter in Denmark lasts 4 months: from December to March. At this time, the maximum air temperature is not higher than -7 degrees. The country has high humidity, so it feels much colder here. In the rest of the year, the climate is marine: dry, clear days without precipitation. Summer is not hot, the maximum air temperature is from 15 to 18 degrees. The peak tourist season falls in July and August.

Useful information

Klampenborg is famous not only for its famous beach, but also for its magnificent old parks in its vicinity. The most amazing and fabulous among them is Jægersborg Dyrehave ("Deer Park"), founded in the seventeenth century for royal hunting and now open to all comers. The area of the park is about 11 square kilometers; about two thousand fallow deer and deer live in natural conditions on its vast territory. Animals are practically not afraid of people, therefore, if you behave quietly and carefully, you can get close to them and take great photos. There are many hiking and bicycle paths on the territory, you can relax in cozy gazebos, sunbathe on grassy lawns, have a picnic, and take a horse ride.

Another favorite vacation spot for locals and foreign visitors is Bakken Amusement Park, the oldest in Denmark. In the distant 1583, a source of healing water was discovered here, around which over time a market square was organized with booths, clowns and circus performers. Over time, it transformed into an amusement park, which to this day has preserved the unique atmosphere of Europe of the 16th century. At the entrance, guests are greeted by a white Pierrot, a contact zoo is organized for children, you can visit the music hall and the circus revue. All attractions, cafes and restaurants are styled in antiquity, visitors are entertained by clowns, musicians and roaming artists.
