Mandjala beach

Mandjala is an Estonian beach located in the very south of the country, that is one of the top ten of its beaches.

Beach description

A large stretch of Mandjala Beach is sandy and surrounded by pine trees. The beach smoothly turns into a very long shallow water, to reach a depth of about 1.5 meters you need to go by the bottom a sufficient distance. The sea near the beach is very shallow, therefore it warms up much better than on other Estonian beaches.

On the beach there are hammocks and deck chairs, a bar is open. There are changing cabins and a toilet. Free parking is available nearby. There is a surf club on the beach.

Right on the beach there is a camp of the same name, other accommodation variants can be found in the nearby town of Kuressaare.

The beach is located on the island of Saarema, which is an interesting natural and historical site. For example, near the beach is the XIV century Episcopal castle, a well-preserved medieval fortress. In summer, concerts, fairs, and music festivals are held here.

When is the best time to go

In Estonia, winters are mild and summers are cool. The climate in the state is moving from temperate to temperate continental. The average summer temperature is +20 degrees. April is warm, May is cool, the beach season lasts from June to August. Sometimes there is short rainfall. The rainy season begins in June and late summer. July – the warmest month of the year.
