Klaipeda beach

Klaipeda Beach is the safest beach on the Curonian Spit. Klaipeda is divided into several zones: Giruliai, Melnrage, Smiltin.

Beach description

Sandy low-populated Giruliai is the most remote part of the resort and popular with nudists. There are boulders, stones in some places on the bottom and coast.

Melnrage Beach is an equipped crowded beach with well-developed infrastructure of the port area in the north of the city. There is equipment for a comfortable stay for people with disabilities, and there is a parking lot nearby. The beach is suitable for families with children. The coastline is long, wide; the coast is protected from the wind by high dunes. On the shore there are many playgrounds, swings for kids.

Smiltine Beach is the most famous beach of Klaipeda. The coast is long, wide, clean, and the beach is well equipped. The bottom and coast are sandy. The entry to the water is smooth. The sea is warm and transparent. A reserve area is located along the perimeter. A perennial pine forest grows here. People get to the resort daily by ferry.

In addition to a beach holiday, other forms of entertainment are popular: night clubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, casinos. On the three main streets of the city, there are many boutiques, shops, souvenir shops.

When is it better to go

The best time to visit Lithuania for a beach vacation is during the summer months, when the weather is most favorable for enjoying the country's beautiful coastline. Here's a structured guide:

  • June to August: This is the peak season for beachgoers. The temperatures are warm, typically ranging from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), which is ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and water sports.
  • July: Considered the warmest month, with the highest average temperature and the longest daylight hours, making it perfect for maximizing your time on the beach.
  • Early September: While the water might be slightly cooler, the beaches are less crowded, and the weather is still pleasant enough for beach activities.

Keep in mind that the Baltic Sea can be quite brisk, so even during these warmer months, the water temperature is refreshing rather than tropical. For those looking to combine their beach holiday with cultural experiences and festivals, midsummer celebrations in late June are a particularly vibrant time to visit.
