Tikhaya Gulf beach

On the Eastern coast of Sakhalin, there is an amazing place located in the Terpeniya Bay, which fully justifies its name the Tikhaya Bay. It is really always very quiet, and the water is very calm. Big noise is raised only by seagulls, which nest on a rocky Zametnyi Island. They scream, if someone tries to get closer.

Beach description

The territory of the Bay, for the most part, is occupied by rocky heaps standing on dense sandstone. Only the coastal zone is covered with dark volcanic sand, which is protected from cold winds by overhanging rocks on all sides. Waves carved at their base bizarre niches and grottoes, where tourists like to visit.

On sunny summer days, the water near the shore warms up to a record 20 degrees. Here vacationers swim and sunbathe, although, a large influx of tourists with their transport Tikhaya can not accommodate. Distinctive vegetation, about a dozen waterfalls in the Northern part of the Bay, wonderful fishing are the main thing that attracts travelers here.

The route from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk to Tikhaya will be about 140 km. The track is very good, it is important not to miss the right turn. Another option to get here is by boat or powerboat. Then you can fishing. On the way to the Vzmorye village, it is interesting to visit the Japanese Temple Gate. In addition to crabs, there is very tasty Korean steamed dumplings in the market.

When is the best time to go?

The best time to relax on the Far East coast – is July and August. At this time, the temperature of water and air reaches maximum levels: about + 20 °C on land and slightly lower in the ocean. Summer in Primorye is rather short and foggy, especially in the southern regions – the humidity there is much higher, which also contributes to a comfortable rest.
