The city beach of Astrakhan is located on the City Island, surrounded by the waters of the Volga River. A few years ago this place was not suitable for recreation, and water that did not correspond to sanitary standards was not allowed to swim.
Since 2018, the island began to be maintained, today the Astrakhan City Beach is the first official and comfortable beach of the city.
The vacation area is wide enough, and the updated coastline has a length of 500 m. After a large-scale reconstruction, the land level on the island rose by almost 1 m: it is this thickness of sand cover on the beach. Pleasant soft sand also lies on the bottom of the river, making it easy and safe to enter the water.
The City Beach of Astrakhan is one of the favorite places for summer holidays among locals, the island is especially popular on weekends and holidays. When maintaining the beach, special attention was paid to safety. The water area for swimming is separated by buoys, and a swimming area for children is also equipped on the city beach. In addition, a rescue service and a police group operate on the island’s territory.
But City Island attracts not only by a beach vacation. The wild nature of this area attracts vacationers with beautiful landscapes and clean air all year round. A few years ago, it was possible to get to the island only by river bus, today you can get into this corner of wildlife by walking across the bridge.
