Emu Bay beach

Emu Bay is a beach in the bay of the same name on the northern coast of Kangaroo Island. You can get to Emu Bay by rented car.

Beach description

The long beachline is covered with white sand. The entry into the water is sloping, the bottom is sandy. The tide often brings algae to shore. The beach has a developed infrastructure - there are showers, toilets, restaurants and cafes. There are many hotels, hostels and guest houses in the city and on the beach. There are camping sites.

The beach is extremely popular with locals and tourists. Here families with children, young people and elderly rest. Common activities include:

  • sunbathing,
  • beach volleyball,
  • football,
  • cricket,
  • snorkeling,
  • diving.

When is it better to go

The busiest swimming season in Australia lasts from December to February. In this summer, for the southern latitudes, the mainland heats up to 25-30 °C, in places up to 40 °C. In winter (June to August) the air is cooled down to 11 °C. May and September are considered the best beach months with a cloudless sky and not too active sun.
