Tortuga Bay beach

Tortuga Bay Beach is a calm beach on the shores of the bay of the same name, 2 km from Puerto Ayora on the island of Santa Cruz.

 

Beach description

The resort can be called special because there are a lot of iguanas, turtles on the coast and, in the water, a variety of small sharks, fry, albatrosses walk among the stones. Herons fish in the bay. The coast is divided into two different beaches:

  1. Conditions on Playa Mansa Beach are suitable for a beach holiday, you can swim; Mansa is a calm stretch of beach without waves. The water temperature is + 22 degrees, the shore is flat.
  2. Playa Brava Beach is the beach with high waves and strong currents. Brava beach is a beach for surfers. It is with a wide coastline. You need to walk a significant distance to the water. Equipment rental works.

On the coast there are employees and rescuers who control the order. There are special hangers for towels and clothes on the beach. They get to the coast on foot or by boat. The road by land will take 30 - 50 minutes on foot. The path is asphalt, comfortable. There are beautiful local landscapes, information stands, signs along the way. At the entranc to the beach, the tourists indicate their personal data. Admission is free. There is also a store where you can buy drinking water.

 

When is it better to go

In search of a beach holiday, the continental part of Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands can be visited all year round; however, the period from December to May will be the best choice, because the water gets warmer and the rainy season softens the enervating heat.
