Kuakata beach

Kuakata is a panoramic beach located in the south of Bangladesh, 320 km from the capital Dhaka.

Beach description

The coastline is long, wide, with a length of about 30 km. The coast is covered with fine marble sand of beige and pink color. The entry into the water is smooth, the beach is shallow. There are great sunsets and landscapes on the beach due to its location on the southernmost part of the country. The eastern part of the beach is bordered by a small protected forest, where evergreen mangrove trees grow. In winter, hundreds of birds fly here.

Every year, pilgrims of Buddhist, Hindu communities from all over the world come to the beach to the "Magni Purnima" and "Rush Purnima" festivals. At this time, fairs and ablutions in the bay are organized in nearby villages. It is possible to get to the beach by bus or a rented motorcycle with a driver. There are many destroyed houses of local residents on the coastline - these are the ruins, left from the property, that was destroyed by the Cydron Cyclone in 2007.

When is it better to go

Bangladesh has a tropical monsoon subequatorial climate. The best time for a beach holiday is the period from October to March, when the air temperature reaches a comfortable +26 degrees. Exhausting heat and rainy season come in April.
