Karmatang beach

Beach description

Karmatang is best known for its nesting farm for turtles. Often it is called – "National Turtle Paradise." The area is ideal for ferryboarding through mangrove streams, and parties are often held on the beach itself. On Karmatanga there are small huts for relaxation, in which you can wait out for rainy weather or sunshine.

The beach is suitable for swimming and other water activities – scuba diving and snorkeling. This area attracts lovers of exotic fauna, especially marine. Active tourists will find an informative trekking walk or the opportunity to climb Mount Harriet – the highest on the Andaman coast.

The nearest village to Karmatang Beach is Mayabunder. Ferries, buses and ships regularly come to this city from Port Blair. You can get to Karmatang from Mayabunder in 20 minutes by taxi or take the Grand Andaman Trunk Road directly from Port Blair.
